Both the chimes and the organ that spent its first life in a vaudeville theater were refurbished as part of McMenamins’ renovations. The eponymous chimes were installed as a novelty around 1939. Look up and you’ll see the pub’s central chandelier and wall sconces all original to the building, they were fabricated in 1932 by Fred Baker, who like Dawson, went on to do work at Timberline Lodge. Look familiar? Dawson's work is also showcased at Timberline Lodge, the University of Oregon and Oregon State. Take a closer look at the intricate ironwork throughout the property, fashioned by talented craftsman O.B. History, art and craftsmanship are abundant in the renovated space original work intertwines with new additions. Outdoors at the Chapel you can settle in on one of the foliage-ensconced patios, where you’ll find fire pits, lanterns and a place to relax and imbibe with your pup at your feet. In fact, for a time they even broadcast organ concerts into the neighborhood through a rooftop PA system! McMenamins Headquarters offices are housed upstairs, but the lower level of The Chapel is all pub, serving McMenamins favorites!
